Report Read through

Have just spent the afternoon reading through the draft of my Client Project evaluation report.
I was fairly happy with what I had written and marked some changes. The bits left include

- Plans for the future
- Inputing images to colour the work
- Quotes from clients and independant onlookers
- Research into real-world companies
- Work with the rest of the group to contextualise the document
- And a conlclusion.

After this, it will be the basic end to compound except the presentation at the Milk07 exhibition. It will truly be a sad time. I have enjoyed and benefited from working and being with the team. I will miss working with them!

Progress Report

So here is what is going on in my working life at the moment!

Work continues on /thoughts spring - This is the first issue to have made a profit, Alleluia!!
I have around 6 pages left to design and then it will be almost ready to print, artwork deadline is the 18th of March!

I am also very busy with the planning of Easter People but guests are very enthusiastic about attending which makes my life easier!

Milk07 gets more and more stressful everyday but having talked to my flatmates about their similar issues with their product design exhibition, we don't seem to be the only ones battling to put on a decent show!! However, an email was sent cancelling all lectures and seminars! We quickly sent an email too, countering this decision in order to get some stuff done and sell some tickets. Fundraising seems to be going well, but with a lack of hours that we can put in, corperate sponsorship is very difficult. We are hoping to get a quiz sold to everyone very soon!

The pace of the client project has accelerated!! We filmed and edited our E4/esting competition entry this weekend. Despite the equipment we had being terrible, we love the idea and are happy with the result. Watch this space for the entry, it should be up after March 10th. I am working on a 3D of a local bar, Jo has finished our Audio project and James will be concentating on Thirst for Life stings.

There is a deadline tomorrow, requiring us to submit a CV in order for lecturers to look at and give feedback on. I will post the CV as soon as it's ready!

Update!

I am aware that I have neglected this space a little recently but I would like to assure you that this is due to the large amount of work and not that there is so little that I have nothing to say about it.

In the last two weeks there has been a lot of progress with Milk07, the exhibition at the end of the year, and feedback meetings with client and research projects. I will be writing an article in the Spring edition of the magazine as part of the conclusion to the project.

We had a group meeting with compound the other evening over a bag of chips. It has been decided that channel4/estings was being put to one side for the moment while James concentrates on re-editing fly for the De:pict competition, Jo will be editing a bungee video, creating documentation and starting an audio project for an animation. I will be working on the 3D visual of part of the student's union.

The next magazine has also been started and I am very busy with organising the creative worship venue at a major UK Christian conference.

See you soon!

Aliens

The story: Cows across America are being abducted by aliens who have a calcium deficiency and need the milk. Farmers and locals are getting worried at the alarming rate at which cows are vanishing. Some desperate measures are being employed from writing ALIENS GO HOME on the barn roof to disguising cows as rein deers!

See the whole thing at http://www.alienabduction.com/
Its yet another marketing idea from the American Dairy people, the same people who have done the Got Milk? campaigns. This is another example of how to market milk, something we're going to have to think about in the coming months.

Milk07.com website planning meeting

The milk07.com and .co.uk domains have been aquired and hosting set up with emails - so now you can email me at huw@milk07.com!! How posh!!

Anyway, had a meeting today with the 'squadron leaders' (Quote -Dave Allen!) as well as those who are involved with the website. Simon Perkins joined us to give his expert insight into what the site should look like.

The meeting was very productive and I think that those who are building the site took some good information and tips away. I believe the site is very important because it is what sponsors as well as people attending will check first after recieving info about it.

Some people believe we should have a poster style as the first thing people see when accessing the website. I disagree, i think there should be a number of very clear options for people to choose as well as the basic information about whats going on, at the time of the show and also stuff thats going on before. Being a multimedia course, I don't think we can settle for an all singing, all dancing clever site. Its a shame no one took it on as a client project.

Having had a meeting with a select group about the final year exhibition, we decided on a branding for the entire project and ultimatly the exhibition with all publicity and products leading up to it.

Above is the logo that we chose having looked at several weaker designs.
I think that this has a lot of potential to be developed and used in different ways but it may not completly shout the word Milk. It also fails to incorperate the words 07 or .com which isn't the end of the world

We also finalised the sponsors information pack which details the contracts that will be drawn up when funds are raised.

Milk announced

Milk has been announced as the name for our Final Year Exhibition. It was met with mixed reaction yet most agree it stays away from the geeky and heads towards a querky marketing campaign.

Someone came up with getting tetra-pak milk cartons printed with our branding to send out to companies so that they can put it on their desks.

I am very happy with the name and I am confident that it is an easy marketing campaign. My job however has been defined as sponsorship and marketing and I will be managing that group as well as attending meetings with the equivelents of each sector.

Bring it on!
