Doodle for Google

The Doodle4Google winning entry was unveiled today on the front page of google.co.uk
That means that 18 million people will see Katherine Chisnall's (age 13) work!
That is an aspiration for any designer! And at 13 there aren't many who can say that their work has been seen by that many people.

Its a great project too. Having a live project in schools is a really great idea and I hope that art, graphics and creative subjects embraced it and brought it into their curriculum. I read in No Logo about corperate brands in schools and how kids were working out the perimeter distance of an Oreo cookie or playing basketball Nike-style and this isnt dis-similar. However, This is a great oppertunity for any young person and one that I hope they offer to students or under 25s!!!!

I think the winning design is brilliant and really captures the similar ideas to that of the google holiday logos. Appart from that it is brilliantly drawn and the bold blocky colours work well. The genius of hit however is not to replace to many letters in the original logo but to creativly work around it.

Well done Katherine and well done Google!!!
